Presidents and Board of Trustees

The IPT is a company limited by guarantee (No 1308583), with no share capital, under Section 30 of the Companies Act 2006.

The IPT is also a registered charity (No 287527). The direction and control of the IPT is determined by the Board of Trustees whose members are also directors of the company. The composition, election and retirement of Trustees are governed by the Articles of Association. The Trustees do not receive remuneration.

The maximum number of Trustees is 18, consisting of:

  • Up to 11 parliamentarians
  • Up to 7 non‑parliamentarians, at least two of whom shall be from subscribing companies

The Trustees are appointed after a process of open recruitment.

The Trustees define the strategic aims and objectives of the charity and delegate some of their powers to a Management Board and other committees and working groups, some of which are governed by the Articles of Association.

The Board of Trustees may from time to time appoint Presidents.
