IPT Breakfast Meeting

The Mental Health Foundation have found that one in four working-age people suffer from a common mental health disorder at any one time, with the social and economic cost of mental illness to the UK economy totaling £105bn. Employment forms an essential part of personal identity and status as well as providing social contacts. The Government has pledged to commission a new taskforce to drive better support for mental health in the workplace and stressed the importance of parity of esteem in tackling mental health issues. This breakfast meeting will:

  • Explore the difficulties faced in gaining employment with mental health conditions and how businesses can play an active role in harnessing supportive working environments
  • Discuss the type of support structures that most benefit employees’ mental health
  • Look at how Government, Industry and the third sector can continue to work in partnership to protect employees with mental health issues through supportive workplace initiatives.
