IPT Dinner Discussion

October 2017 will herald the fifth anniversary of Automatic Enrolment (AE) into workplace pensions. Since its introduction, 8 million people have started with over 600,000 employers and an opt-out rate of less than 10%. However, arguably the biggest challenge is still to come with combined employee contributions currently at 2% and set to increase to 5% by April 2018 and 8% by April 2019. In addition, the Freedom and Choice reforms have provided savers with more options at retirement, making increased engagement and the provision of effective financial guidance and advice more important than ever. This dinner discussion will:

  • Consider the progress of the Government’s review of AE and the potential for further contribution increases
  • Examine the role of financial advice and guidance in helping people to plan with more confidence for retirement
  • Explore the potential for the Pensions Dashboard to transform how people engage with their pension savings.
