IPT Dinner Discussion
Green finance is at the top of political and regulatory agendas worldwide, from the G20’s Green Finance Study Group to the FSB’s Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure. It is one of the best vehicles for generating long-term, sustainable growth, and is increasingly seen as a prudent and profitable source of investment by mainstream investors. However, to realise the sector’s full potential and to secure sufficient capital for green initiatives, increased cross-border, public-private sector cooperation will be key. An example of this has been the Green Finance Initiative launched by the City of London Corporation in January 2016. This dinner discussion will:
- Consider why green finance has emerged as a key priority for international financial centres and practitioners
- Explore how Government and Industry might globalise green finance and address the sector’s challenges
- Discuss what could be done to ensure the development of a world-class policy and regulatory environment for green finance in the UK.
