IPT Dinner Discussion

The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) has urged that more support is needed for the UK’s 19,000 rural shops. In addition to this, a recent report by e-commerce delivery experts ParcelHero predicts that internet shopping will eradicate 50% of town centre stores by 2030. As the way we live, work, shop and enjoy leisure time continues to change, the question of the how our town centres can evolve to adapt to these market changes remains unclear. This dinner discussion will:

  • Evaluate the impacts of changing consumer choices and the e-commerce revolution to our High Streets
  • Explore the social and economic role that stores such as the Post Office play within rural town centres
  • Consider how our high streets can adapt to the rise of convenience culture
  • Discuss what steps the Government and local authorities are taking to support UK high street stores and encourage the rejuvenation of town centres.
