Environmental, Social and Governance assets are expected to exceed $53 trillion globally by 2025, representing more than a third of the $140.5 trillion in global assets under management. The UK is one of the world’s financial centres for green financing, with considerable expertise and deep pools of capital, However, the sector is growing rapidly on a global level and London must develop new and competitive policy and regulatory frameworks for sustainable finance to ensure it keeps pace with other financial centres. In the 2021 Budget, the Government announced the creation of a National Infrastructure Bank, with potential to help fund green projects and created Green Finance hubs in Leeds and London. Can the sector develop new products to meet growing demand for sustainable finance? With the green finance market growing quickly how can private sector finance be aligned with clean, sustainable and resilient growth?

This event will:

  • Consider how to mainstream green and sustainable finance, including mobilising sustainable finance for regions of the UK and emerging markets
  • Explore how to build a competitive policy framework for sustainable finance
  • Examine the role of shareholders in emphasising green finance, including through coalitions such as ClimateAction 100+
