Plastic packaging plays many important roles including ensuring products meet the highest quality and food safety standards but, although progress has been made on recycling, we know that too much plastic waste is still going into incineration and landfill.  We are now at a key turning point for the UK’s plastic recycling sector with plans for investment in new UK recycling infrastructure, including in non-mechanical Advanced Recycling systems, along with initiatives to improve collection systems so that as much plastic material as possible is collected for recycling. This is going hand-in-hand with the government’s work to create a leading Extended Producer Responsibility system, their plans to drive consistency of collection across the country and their objectives to simplify communication for consumers. And all the while consumer goods businesses are themselves investing to drive circularity in their packaging. Collectively, the UK is now well placed to become a world leader in plastic recycling.

This event will:

  • Discuss the way brands are investing in more circular packaging solutions
  • Share how industry and the government are working together to increase plastic collection
  • Examine the opportunities presented by the development of advanced recycling
