On Thursday 23 April the Industry and Parliament Trust (IPT) were delighted to organise a cross-party group visit to London Stansted Airport, part of Manchester Airports Group (MAG). The visit was attended by Graeme Downie MP, Jacob Collier MP, Wera Hobhouse MP and Richard Holden MP.
The visit included a behind-the-scenes tour of the airport and visit to the airport’s college to meet with students. During the visit, the delegation toured the airport’s terminal seeing their security operations, and learn about their modernisation and expansion plans. Then we went airside to view Stansted’s airfield, and hear how the airport plans and successfully delivers a 24 hour a day flight operation.
The parliamentarians then completed the visit with a tour of the airport’s unique on-site college, run in partnership with Harlow College. The college is the UK’s only further education facility based on an airport campus, providing young people with opportunities to learn and gain qualifications across a host of aviation related courses to prepare them for a rewarding career in the sector.

We would like to thank London Stansted Airport and MAG for hosting this visit and to everyone involved in the tour, also to the parliamentarians for attending this visit.
